The Toronto front court of Jonas Valanciunas and Serge Ibaka were dominating in the 1st quarter. The two combined for a total of 14 points. DeMar DeRozan filled the stat sheet in the quarter as he recorded 6 points and 4 assists. The Celtics were led by Aron Baynes, who scored 12 points. Terry Rozier added on 10 for Boston. Toronto led by 33-31 after one.
Fred VanVleet led the Raptors with 7 points in the quarter, while JV added on 6. Marcus Morris took was the catalyst for the Celtics in period as he dropped 8 points. Boston won the rebound battle 15-9, but both teams put up the same amount if points in the quarter. The Raptors were leading 55-53 going into halftime.
DeRozan took over and owned the 3rd quarter. The kid from Compton dropped 15 points coming on 5/7 shooting. He single handedly scored more than half of Toronto's points in the quarter. Jayson Tatum also went off in the 3rd quarter for the Celtics. The rookie SF put up 14 points in the period, knocking down a couple of three-pointers. Toronto led by 2 points heading into the final quarter, the score set at 84-82.
Toronto struggled to score in the quarter, but their defense was bailing them out of trouble. Everything was going fine for the Raptors until about halfway through the quarter. The Celtics went on an unexpected 20-7 scoring run to end the game. In one of their most important games of the season, the Raptors blew their lead in the final period of play. The Raptors were defeated by the Celtics 110-99.
