Game Review: Raptors vs Celtics

Review Written by Adam Garfield (@AdamThe6God)

Toronto had a very slow start to the game. Only 14 points in the 1st quarter, this was one of of the Raptors least productive quarters. DeMar DeRozan led the squad with 5 points, while Boston's Jaylen Brown and Greg Monroe combined for 10. Toronto trailed the Celtics 14-20.

The Raptors Bench Mob took over in the 2nd quarter on both ends of the game. They held Boston to only 13 points in the period, and scored 20 out of the 29 points for Toronto. The Raptors also out-rebounded the Celtics 13-12. Each team had an atrocious offensive quarter thus far in a game that could determine the #1 seed in the East. The Raptors led the Celtics 43-33 heading into halftime.

DeRozan led the charge for the Raptors coming out of the break. Deebo dropped 8 points with ease, using his amazing footwork to get open shots. Norman Powell struggled on offense, but he grabbed 4 rebounds to make up for it. Marcus Morris went for 8 points, while Al Horford put up 6 for the Celtics. With 7:40 remaining in the period, OG Anunoby had a huge put-back dunk off of a Jonas Valanciunas missed shot. He brought life into the arena and gave Toronto the momentum. The Raptors were ahead 67-53.

Toronto emptied their bench for the 4th quarter as the game was basically over. The Raptors left Serge Ibaka in the game to gain some confidence as he has been seriously struggling with his shot. Ibaka went for 9 points in the quarter, which will hopefully transpire into future games. Fred VanVleet added on 8 points. Morris and Horford combined for 12 points as they tried to bring Boston back into the game, but it was too late. The Raptors defeated the Celtics 96-78 in one of their most important games of the season.
